SWFLYAS MEETING NEWS - October 2004
Boy and His Dog - Norman Rockwell Press release and member announcement for
The Southwest Florida Young Anglers’ Society

Members and Friends,

I need to announce that tomorrow morning (Saturday 10/9/04) I will be on REEL TALK Radio from 9am-10am. This is a local fishing talk radio program on AM 770. The show is hosted by Dean Hicks, the owner of Reels, Inc. who is an old friend & strong supporter of the Southwest Florida Young Anglers' Society. We will be on the radio discussing the club and it's purpose, our past and future fishing trips, swapping some fishing stories, and discussing the current fishing conditions. (I'm not sure if everyone has noticed, but the decrease in air temperature the last few days will positively affect inshore fishing as the water temperatures decrease slightly, keeping the mid-day temperature in the flats moderate. This encourages the fish not to seek deeper, cooler water during the day and more fish will be found just off the beach & flats in shallower water.) I am asking and encouraging all members & friends to please listen to the show and call in with your stories, questions, or comments. The phone number is: 239-992-5877. I really need your help by calling in to promote the fishing club to new members who may not have heard of it.

The fishing trip for October will be at Wiggins Pass State Park on Sunday October 24th. Mornings are usually best fishing in the pass so we'll be there from park open to around 3pm. The cooler temperatures will encourage larger fish to stay in the channel near shore and puts them within easy casting distance from shore. See you there!!
