SWFLYAS MEETING NEWS - November 2004
Boy and His Dog - Norman Rockwell Press release and member announcement for
The Southwest Florida Young Anglers’ Society

Members and Friends,

I have some very exciting news! I was contacted recently by three very giving persons who donated fishing tackle, rods & reels. Some are combo sets and some are separate. Alot of the tackle is old, but well cared for. The givers of the donations all stated that they wished the donation to benefit kids and fishing. We should respect their wishes. I am curious if any of it may have 'collectors' value in addition to usefulness. I will talk to some friends who know fishing equipment to see if they could go through it and value the donations. Once a value is determined, we can determine the best use for the donations. I feel it would be best to either use the items as prizes in a fishing tournament to be given to the participants (kids). Or a tournament to raise money for a charity(All Children's Hospital & Burn Center). What do you all think? Please let me know some ideas of how we should best use this gift! Don't forget a prayer for the anonymous donors for their thoughtfulness. I also would like to say a special "Thanks!" to Byron Stout of the Fort Myers NewsPress for recommending us for these thoughtful donations.

I apologize for such short notice! The November meeting and fishing trip of the Southwest Florida Young Anglers' Society will be (by popular vote) on Nov. 20th at Lover's Key State Recreation Area. We will be meeting about 8 or 9am on the Northern most part of the Key. This would be at the southern foot of the Big Carlos Pass bridge. We will be parking in the parking area and walking through the shallow channel to the Northern tip of Lover's Key. This is about 1/2 mile north of the main entrance and there is no admission fee to enter this way. If you need additional information, or need directions, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can contact me via email or cell phone: 239-839-7465.  I hope to see you all at the meeting.

I would also like to suggest the December meeting be at Lover's Key State Recreation Area on Saturday, 12/10/04. The Key seems to be easily accessible for most, if not all members and is a great fishing opportunity! Please let me know what you think about that also. Catch 'em up!
