Press release and member announcement for
The Southwest Florida Young Anglers’ Society
Members and Friends,
The Southwest Florida Young Anglers' Society met at Big Carlos Pass on the north beach of Lovers' Key on Sunday 1/9/05. Trevor's boat, the SeaSense Test Vessel (a 20' Carolina Skiff) took the participating members drift fishing the grass flats through and around the pass. We were targeting Sea Trout and Flounder, however the "Big Catch of the Day" went to (Mom) Lisa Munkelwitz who caught a 30" Black Tip Shark on a live shrimp. Boy, was there some EXCITEMENT in the boat at that moment!!! Other members catching fish were Nick, Andrew, Jeremy, and Trevor. Two previously donated rods were presented to Nick and Andrew for the best catches of the trip. Other fish caught were Yellow Fin Jack, Bonnet Head Shark, Lizard Fish, Squirrel Fish, Pin Fish and several Puffer Fish. A great time was had by all. The group had exhausted their supply of over 6 dozen shrimp and had caught many fish by the afternoon.
If no one objects, it was suggested to meet at Lely Beach in Bonita Springs for the February Fishing Trip. We should meet at the first beach fishing area at approximately 8:30am on Sunday 2/13/05. Please come prepared for a day fishing at the beach and bring sunscreen for the kids.
See you there!
Respectfully Submitted,
Ed Foley
