Press release and member
announcement for
The Southwest Florida Young Anglers’ Society
Members and
Friends,
The Southwest Florida Young Anglers' met at Bonita Beach on Jan.
24th, 2004. The weather was pretty chilly, but it warmed later in
the afternoon. The fishing was a little slow with only a few
small whiting biting live shrimp provided by J & J Bait. The
catch of the day goes to Emma Hines who caught an 18" bonnet head
shark.
Byron Stout was very kind to visit us during the Bonita Beach
fishing trip and spoke with several members. Mr. Stout, a true
Southern Gentleman, is very knowledgeable of the sport of fishing
and offered some helpful tips and a few good stories. Being an
excellent journalist, he took some notes and a few pictures.
The February fishing trip will be at New Pass Beach on 2/28/04.
This should be an excellent fishing opportunity to fish an outer
island pass accessible only by boat. This deep water pass is is
known for producing some excellent fish. Snook, Red Drum,
Pompano, Tripletail, Mackerel, Cobia and Amber Jack are known to
run thru this pass. Cliff Ball has volunteered his boat, "The
Other Woman", to shuttle members and family from the boat launch
ramp at Lovers' Key to the island for an afternoon of
fishing.
To coordinate the shuttle trips, please RSVP on or before
2/21/04. Members will need to bring their fishing tackle, food,
water and supplies for the afternoon. If you have any questions,
please do not hesitate to contact me at 239-267-4304. Being that
this is our first trip that involves a shuttle boat, I encourage
everyone to contact me and/or Cliff Ball so we may determine how
many people, arrival times and coordinate shuttle times. Thanks,
and we'll see you there!

The February meeting will be at Lovers'

to RSVP on or before 2/21/04
